Nicole Kennedy, CYT 500

Certified Yoga Teacher, Certification in children’s yoga with a specialization in social emotion learning & mindfulness

I have been practicing yoga on and off over 15 years, but have held a consistent practice for the last 6 years. I became certified as a yoga instructor with a program designed for educators whose mission is to bring yoga and mindfulness to schools. I have been an educator since 2011 and I am so fortunate that I get to bring two of my passions together - yoga and working with children. My love for yoga inspired me to bring my teaching to others outside of education. No matter what style of yoga I’m teaching, I aim to make the practice accessible and inclusive to everyone. In my free time I love to spend time with my family, friends and cats. I am a voracious reader and love to be active and out in nature, whether it is running, hiking, kayaking, SUP yoga, going to the beach or traveling and exploring new cities.

Testimonials

“Nicole’s class today was wonderful.  Her cues were clear and easy to follow, which made the practice feel accessible and smooth from start to finish.  She offered plenty of options, so everyone could move in a way that felt right for their body.  The class was truly enjoyable, and she created a welcoming environment for those practicing at home - it was easy to see and hear everything, and you felt included every step of the way.” - JK

“I feel two inches taller and sooo much more mobile after this stretch class!  Nicole is fantastic.  Thank you!” - H.V

“Went for my first class with Nicole, she was a wonderful instructor with great energy.  The studio was clean and calming, the members were lovely.  Can’t wait to go back.”  - BM

What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?

A challenge in my own practice is consistency with the asana. I am so busy with school, teaching yoga and all my hobbies that sometimes my own practice gets pushed aside. I try to practice asana either at the studio or at home at least once a week, but I really want to try to dedicate more time to it. One of the perks of being a teacher is the summers off which is when you will find me at the studio for class more frequently!

What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?

What about teaching lights you up the most?

For me, it always comes back to the community. There’s something really special about watching new friendships and connections take shape within the studio. We’re incredibly fortunate at Prana to be surrounded by such a kind, open, and genuinely supportive group of people. Some of the most meaningful friendships in my life have grown out of simple moments—conversations before class, shared experiences on the mat, or connections formed between teacher and student.

It fills me with so much joy to see people walk into a class, perhaps not knowing anyone, and over time find a sense of belonging. Those small, organic interactions—especially the few quiet minutes before class begins, when people are settling onto their mats and chatting with whoever is beside them—feel just as important as the practice itself. There’s a warmth in those moments, a reminder that yoga is not just about individual growth, but about coming together, supporting one another, and building something meaningful as a community.
