Melissa Spero, RYT 200

Registered Yoga Teacher, Acro Fit, Aerial Yoga

Melissa has been practicing yoga since the age of 18 and teaching since 2015. After attending a workshop with Simon Park in 2011, she felt a deep connection to the practice and knew yoga would remain an important part of her life. She completed her 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training with Denise Kay and Delia Quigley in June 2015.

Melissa’s classes are rooted in compassion, mindful movement, and helping students feel at home in their bodies. Her personal journey through injury recovery and motherhood has deepened the way she practices and teaches, bringing a greater emphasis on patience, strength, and self-acceptance.

She loves creating classes that help students feel lighter, stronger, and more connected to themselves. In addition to yoga, Melissa is also a certified Acro Fit and Aerial Yoga instructor.

Testimonials

“I love that Prana offers a 4:30pm class - it catches a lot of us who are finished with work and don't want to wait around for a later yoga class. I also love this Friday class offering. Melissa instructs well, offering modifications and suggestions for all the poses. She brings a calm and stabilizing energy, giving permission to all for self expression. It's a great way to end the week and start the weekend. I also love the offering of chanting "Om" at the end of the practice. Chanting is a unifying practice, one that is often overlooked in many yoga classes. Thank you Melissa!” - EM

Get to know Melissa…

What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?

Currently, finding time for myself and learning to navigate a different body. Recovering from a serious injury and becoming a mom have deeply changed how I practice yoga. I now move with more compassion, patience, and awareness, and I believe I teach through that lens as well.

What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?

Teaching yoga has helped me clarify my personal values and find my voice, especially when it comes to setting boundaries. It has also reminded me that rest is not something we earn—it is something we all deserve.

What about teaching lights you up the most?

I love being able to help people—whether it’s brightening someone’s day or helping them access a posture they’ve been struggling with. It’s a beautiful feeling to watch someone leave the room feeling a little lighter than when they walked in.
