Mayra DeFilippo, RYT 200

Registered Yoga Teacher

My teaching is rooted in the belief that yoga is more than movement, it’s a practice of awareness, presence, and returning to yourself.

I offer a mindful, breath centered flow with intentional pacing and clear guidance. Influenced by Iyengar principles, I emphasize alignment, stability, and building a strong foundation in each pose. I encourage the use of props as tools for support, accessibility, and deeper exploration.

Each class is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and move with awareness.

What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?

One of the biggest challenges in my practice has been learning how to slow down and soften. I naturally move through life fast, so yoga continues to teach me discernment (viveka), knowing when to push, when to pause, and how to truly listen to my body instead of my ego. It’s helped me understand that yoga is not about achieving the “perfect pose,” but about connection, awareness, and presence.

What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?

Teaching yoga has taught me that my voice matters most when I teach from authenticity. As a teacher rooted in Hatha yoga with an Iyengar-inspired love for alignment, accessibility, and mindful movement, I’ve learned that I deeply love creating spaces where people feel safe, supported, and more at home in their bodies. My mission is to help people feel good in their bodies through movement, meditation, and mindset practices that complement everyday life.

What about teaching lights you up the most?

What lights me up most is witnessing people reconnect with themselves. I love seeing students walk into class carrying stress and leave feeling softer, lighter, and more grounded. Whether through mindful movement, restorative practices, or simply breathing together in community, sharing this practice in a way that feels accessible, intentional, and real truly fills my heart
