Loretta Napolitano has lived in Denville for 37 years and has taught group exercise all of those years at various gyms: spinning, jump rope, pilates, boot camp and many other things eventually led her to yoga. Loretta is a 500-hour EYT and trained with Yoga-Fit and the School of Yoga and Ayurveda. She has taken trainings with Rodney Yee and Bryan Kest and continues to learn from other yogis. Loretta enjoys meditation through movement and likes to work hard and earn savasana. “I took yoga way back in college from a ‘weird’ lady and I still remember feeling really good after the class. Now I am that weird lady who hopefully makes people feel good after a yoga class.”

What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?
My challenge in my yoga practice is evolving by the decade! The aging body presents many challenges, but yoga poses help with everything and there is no reason to ever stop doing yoga—some of the poses have to be modified. I have learned there is no way to stop the aging process, but inner energy and faith can keep us moving. I am thankful to God for having inner motivation and I love sharing that with others to help them find yoga/exercise fun, not a drudgery.
What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?
I learned that I love teaching yoga and making up sequences; it's like choreographing a show: the students are the audience—-it's an audience participation show!
What about teaching lights you up the most?
I love hearing the feedback of a class: whether it is a moan, a laugh, or a deep ujjjayi breath that lets me know I am helping someone relieve stress. My philosophy is to get the meditation through motion. Keep moving. I gear my classes to creative/athletic types who think a lot and demand a lot of their bodies and brains. We work, but then we rest. And we all feel better after corpse pose. Death of the former self!
General Weekly Schedule

Music Playlist
I try to exercise to the sound of my own brain ----pure yoga ---it's you and your brain....toughest thing in the world, but once you master it, you will find outward "noise" distracting. Instrumental background music for ambience if needed.
Follow Loretta on Social Media
I am not on social media --when I'm not at work or with family, you can find me hiking a trail, in a pool, at the gym, at yoga or watching true crime documentaries. And I read a lot. I would be addicted to social media if I were on it, so, like cookies, I stay away from it.
