Jessica Danz, RYT 500
Registered Yoga Teacher
Jessica received her 500-hour teacher training through Aligned Flow® with Christy Linson and has practiced yoga regularly at Prana Yoga Center for 13 years, the last six of them as a teacher there. She approaches her classes with a sense of curiosity and fun, focusing on helping students find the alignment that works for their bodies, building a strong foundation from which they can confidently explore their potential and gently challenge the limits they place on themselves.
Jessica currently teaches a beginner class and an open level class at Prana. Working with students new to the practice is where her heart is, and she designs her open level class to bridge the gap between beginner and more experienced practice, giving students the confidence, knowledge, and options to continue evolving their own yoga practice. In both, she blends functional movement with traditional asanas to help students build mobility, strength, and flexibility while reconnecting with their bodies.
Jessica believes that every body is a yoga body, and her goal is to help students connect and nurture the mind and body by providing a safe and welcoming space to practice yoga.
When she's not on the mat, Jessica enjoys reading, swimming, crocheting, and cooking (usually with her cats, Noodles & Beans, nearby hoping for a crumb to drop).
"For me, yoga is not only about embracing the strength of what our bodies can do, but about challenging a noisy mind and celebrating a brave spirit. Vulnerability, strength, courage, fear ... all of it."

What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?
Making time to practice when I'm not teaching. I find myself falling into the habit of only practicing when I teach or when I'm using yoga asanas to stretch after a workout.
What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?
That making mistakes is normal and natural, and there is no reason to be embarrassed. I used to apologize when I mixed up right and left during class. I've learned these little flubs make us human. And we don't need to apologize for being human. Save the "I'm sorry" for the big things where it really matters.
What about teaching lights you up the most?
I love having brand new students in my class. Seeing someone be brave enough to try something new and to trust me and Prana enough to help guide them. I love it so much.
