Christy Naida Linson,
E-RYT 500, YACEP, LMT, Studio Co-Owner
I grew up in a home where juicing, whole foods, and the belief that how we nourish ourselves physically and spiritually creates the foundation of our lives — thanks to my wonderfully prayerful, health-nut mom.
That curiosity and devotion led me everywhere — from Hawaii, where I found Yoga while training as a massage therapist and regularly attended an ashram, to Naropa University where I studied Somatic and Contemplative Psychology and was introduced to Buddhist meditation practice, to YogaWorks in NYC where I completed my Yoga teacher trainings, and landed me here, 27 years later, still deep in the study and practice of devotion, healing, movement, nourishment, and the Nervous System.
I am honored to co-own the award-winning Prana Yoga Center in Denville and Kinnelon with my sister April, lead Aligned Flow® teacher trainings and retreats around the world, and work as a massage therapist, Human Design reader (1/4 Sacral Manifesting Generator), Integrative Nutritional Health Coach, and am honored to be a Yoga ambassador for lululemon.
Coming to Yoga from a running background, I was amazed at how quickly it helped me recover — and training as a massage therapist made anatomy deeply tangible. That work has taken me everywhere from working with professional surfers and windsurfers in Hawaii to seven years with the NY Jets, and still informs the way I teach, balancing alignment and strength with breath, presence, rest, and resilience. My hope is that you leave every class feeling welcomed, encouraged, and more at home in your body.
Off the mat I'm a devoted aunt, an admirer of sunsets, and am always in the middle of several books. Find me at Prana or AlignedFlow.com — I would love to practice with you!
Testimonials
Get to know Christy…
What is a challenge in your own yoga practice?
I find a big challenge is balancing my personal practice with teaching and running the studio. I don’t always prioritize my time, and it makes such a big difference when I do.
What is something you’ve learned about yourself from teaching yoga?
Gosh, I learn something every single time. Something I am practicing with lately is connection over perfection. I am not a huge perfectionist, but there are many times where I wish I had included a practice, or said something in a different way in class. When I show up authentically and turn my attention on truly seeing people -the connection is so much better than just offering a great sequence. We all leave with our spirits bolstered, which creates a rippling effect. I’m trying to practice the vulnerability it takes to do more of that.
What about teaching lights you up the most?
Welcoming people in and helping them feel that they belong. I love to encourage and cheer people on whether it is students in daily practice or new teachers in sharing their own love of Yoga and gifts. It is such an honor to move, breathe, and be with people through life and all of the transitions we go through as humans.
